I approach square Kufic as a geometric structure that carries meaning and transforms language into a vibrant visual experience. Although rooted in religious and architectural contexts, for me it is a starting point for contemporary exploration.
I sought to free it from traditional ornamentation, reshaping and separating letters, building new relationships between script and space, creating a visual language that preserves its spirit while speaking today’s language.
Moving away from religious texts, I embraced contemporary poetry with new values and aesthetics, turning the text into a literary work within a visual piece, read anew through light and sensitivity.
I produced a series of paintings combining precise geometry and quiet spaces, carrying the essence of Kufic without replicating it.
Later, I transformed these compositions into decorative lighting elementschandeliers, lamps allowing square Kufic to live in our homes, adorning spaces, blending heritage and modernity, design and art, light and form.
